KNOW YOURSELF

Reflections from the past few weeks.

I always have two flows of logic about most things. This applies to my take on what it means to Know Thyself too. See, “know yourself” and “know” have been my intentions the past few weeks. I’m at the end phase of teaching myself not to give a you know what and trusting myself.

For a while I’ve been too concerned about what others think and how I’m perceived. Knowing myself means having a strong enough foundation on the inside to not be swayed (or concerned for that matter) by what I think others think. To know means to understand, to be more than familiar with, to be confident. To know means there’s no doubt. To know is to be certain. Based on a quick google search, it also means “be aware of through observation and inquiry”.

KNOW YOURSELF.

Upon studying myself thoroughly for the past two years, I’d say I’m getting to know myself. It’s a beautiful thing, really. But then on the other hand, do we ever really know ourselves fully? I’d argue it’s pretty arrogant to think so. I think we’re always changing (or we should be). Who you were yesterday doesn’t really determine who you are today. I think that though we age, life can still be new. As we grow older, we gain new experiences and new chances. Fifty shouldn’t be like thirty-five, right? It’s a completely different experience. Also, people are super complex so I’m personally not confident that we can know all of ourselves at one moment. To know yourself fully would mean to address every nook and cranny of your life and that would probably take a lifetime.

Anyway, life is a beautiful thing and to know yourself along the way can make things much smoother. Getting to this point has been a long, necessary journey but it was made possible with lots of prayer and meditation, journaling, dissecting my birth chart, and being honest. That’s right, being truthful about everything in my life. If you want to start getting to know yourself better you should first take time to address all things within you that you hold back. Dig deep now and everything else will come forward with ease. Also consider doing your birth chart, a chart with a snapshot of where all the planets and celestial bodies were at the time of your birth. It could help put in words some feelings you’ve never expressed aloud. Read the entry on Important Parts of Your Birth Chart as a starter.

Remember you don’t owe the truth to anyone but yourself. So do you really know you?
